Underwater Exploration

Dive in... [Delve deep...]

Start with a single actor and follow the connections through the network. Discover the stories behind the connections, recognize power structures and recurring patterns. Or start with a topic.

Random entry of a single actor

How do I navigate the network?

A step-by-step guide to exploration

1

Choose an actor

Click on an actor from the displayed entry points or search for a network node in the search field above. This will be your starting point in the network.

💡 Choose an actor who particularly interests you or whose connections you would like to explore.
2

→ Explore

In the network, you see the actor in the center and all directly connected network nodes around it.

💡 Here you can click on the connection lines or network nodes to get more information.
3

Expand network

You can continue browsing the network by clicking on an actor in the Network view and then right-clicking. In the menu that appears, click on "Import Network". If any other connections are saved for this actor, they will be imported.

💡 This way you can dive through the network node by node and explore the network further.
4

Thematic overlaps

If you have selected a network node, you can also see thematic links by right-clicking.

💡 This way you can see which other topics the actor plays a role in.

Collective Investigation

The idea is to provide a "Palantir for the people." Instead of AI-based research and pattern recognition, the data and insights are meant to come from the users themselves.

AI can certainly be utilized here, but the results must always be validated, as AI sometimes delivers incorrect data or holds back information.

The platform is intended to serve the following purposes in particular:

  • Transparency by visualizing the interlocking of the state, private sector, and foundations, as well as the related influence on societal developments
  • Visualization of power and influence structures
  • Presentation of backgrounds/motives by visualizing the (interest) networks behind actors and events
  • Visualization of financial flows
