Public Relations
- The founders of theory -
Edward Bernays
Edward Louis Bernays is one of the founders of the modern theory of propaganda, which he later renamed Public Relations.
Building a PR campaign to Bernays:
Bernays developed an eight-point plan to carry out a PR campaign that is often used as the basis for many PR campaigns worldwide and can also serve as the basis for the work of non-profit organization:
1. Define your goals.
2. Lead research.
3. Change your goals based on this research.
4. Specify a strategy.
5. Create topics, symbols and incentives.
6. Raise an organization to carry out your strategy.
7. Decide on the schedule and the tactics.
8. Perform your plans.
One of his preferred techniques for manipulating public opinion was indirect use of prominent third parties: "If you can influence the group leaders, either with or without their conscious cooperation, you automatically influence their group."
