In parallel to the structure of his steel company, Peter Klöckner created an engine, machines and commercial vehicle group with Klöckner-Humboldt-Dutz AG.
In 1930, Klöckner merged the Deutz gas engine factory, the Mechanical engineering facility Humboldt and the Oberursel machine factory to Humboldt-Deutzmotoren AG, from which its group held 70 % of the share capital. With the takeover of the ailing Magirus vehicle factory in Ulm in 1936, the range of offers was also completed.
