Eugen Langen brought Gottlieb Daimler in 1872 as a technical director to Deutz and Daimler brought his then 26 -year -old friend Wilhelm Maybach as head of the construction office.
In 1872 Daimler moved to the Deutz gas engine factory, where Nikolaus Otto gave him the management of the workshops.

In 1873, Gottlieb Daimler Maybach took to the Deutz gas engine factory near Cologne, where Maybach was transferred the management of the construction office. Here Maybach brought the internal combustion engine developed by Nikolaus Otto with exemption to serial.
