On August 6, 2021, RTL Germany announced the purchase of Gruner + Jahr for 230 million euros (purchase price without debt). The company participations from Gruner+Jahr am Spiegel-Verlag, at the DDV media group, on Territory and the Applike Group, however, hiked under the roof of Bertelsmann.

RTL Deutschland
Gruner + Jahr became a subsidiary of RTL Germany in 2021 and thus part of the listed RTL Group, where Bertelsmann holds the majority. The takeover was completed in 2023.
Gruner + Jahr has been part of RTL Deutschland GmbH completely since 2022.
RTL Germany and Gruner + Jahr merged in parts. According to RTL, the purchase price is 230 million euros. The parent company Bertelsmann has long been based on the merger of its business areas.
