The General Directorate Communication Networks, Contents and Technologies of the Commission (GD CNECT) leads the activities in connection with the code of conduct, the establishment of an independent network of facts and researchers as well as the measures to promote media literacy and cyber security. GD CNECT also conducts projects financed by the European Parliament and as part of the Horizont 2020 program financed research and innovation projects.

Establishment of fact checkers
The General Directorate Communication Networks, Contents and Technologies of the Commission (GD CNECT) leads the activities in connection with the code of conduct, the establishment of an independent network of facts and researchers as well as the measures to promote media literacy and cyber security. GD CNECT also conducts projects financed by the European Parliament and as part of the Horizont 2020 program financed research and innovation projects.
EU action plan: In cooperation with the Commission, Member States should promote the establishment of teams from multidisciplinary independent facts and researchers who have specific knowledge of the respective local information environment in order to recognize and unveil disinformation campaigns in the various social networks and digital media.
