In 2010, Climate Exchange Plc, the parent company of the European Climate Exchange (ECX), was acquired by the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).
Today, the trading activities of the former ECX are fully integrated into ICE Futures Europe, which continues to function as one of the main marketplaces for EU emissions rights, with the European Climate Exchange being primarily responsible for product development and marketing of ICE Futures Europe.
