- Takeover on June 17th, 2018 -
Monsanto
On May 23, 2016, Bayer AG presented an official offer to take over Monsanto for $ 62 billion. Since this was too low, Monsanto's management decided unanimously to reject the offer, but one was open to constructive discussions. On September 6, 2016, a new offer from Bayer was presented, in which the price per share was increased from $ 127.50. Monsanto accepted the offer a little later. The purchase price is $ 66 billion (60 billion euros) and is therefore the largest takeover by a German group abroad. Bayer thus becomes the global number one in the agricultural business. In the event that the takeover would not have been taken for antitrust reasons, Bayer had agreed to pay $ 2 billion to Monsanto.
On March 21, 2018, the EU Commission approved the planned takeover under requirements. Bayer had previously committed to sell almost his entire global business for seeds and agronomic features, including research, to BASF. In addition, BASF takes over the business with the Glufosinat pesticide, three important research programs for broadband unscropping destruction and the vegetable seed business combined in the Nunhems brand. The US Department of Justice was approved on May 29, 2018. As the last competition authority, the Mexican Comisión Federal de Competencia Económica on June 4th, under editions. The takeover was completed on June 7, 2018. The name Monsanto is not continued, but integration into the Bayer group was only able to take place after BASF completed the takeover of the areas submitted by Bayer in August 2018.
At the first Bayer general meeting after the controversial takeover of Monsanto 2019 failed to relieve the board around Bayer CEO Werner Baumann-a premiere in the history of the DAX. The Bayer share had lost 40 percent of value after completing the Monsanto transaction. On the stock exchange, Bayer, once Germany's most valuable Dax company, was only worth about as much with 57 billion euros as Bayer had paid for as a purchase price for Monsanto. Numerous major shareholders had therefore announced in advance that they did not want to relieve the board and sometimes also the Supervisory Board.

- Dreesbund (from 1904) -
BASF SE
The interest community was founded in 1904 by
1. Agfa (Aktiengesellschaft für Anilinfabrication Berlin)
2. BASF (Badische Anilin and SodaFabrik Ludwigshafen)
3. Bayer (color factories before Friedrich Bayer & Co. Elberfeld)
Therefore, it was also called a three -fed company. The i.G. initially limited themselves to exchange of experiences and waiver of competition through common products. The model for this was Trusts - company mergers in the USA, e.g. Standard Oil. Trusts were central stock companies, created by the unification of several stock corporations that formally kept their existence. The elimination of the competition permits profit maximization and easier enforcement of one's own interests.

I.G. Farben
After the stabilization of the global economy in the mid -1920s, it becomes clear that the German dye industry cannot regain its old position on the world market. In order to remain competitive and win new markets, six German companies decided in 1925 to merge in the Interest Group in the Farben Industrie AG, or in short: I.G. Colors. Just like the other companies, Bayer transfers his assets to the I.G. Colors and is deleted as an independent company in the commercial register.
To the Niederrhein company community of the I.G. In addition to the works of Leverkusen, Dormagen and Elberfeld, the Uerdingen plant also belongs. Leverkusen is also the location of the Pharma sales community of the I.G. - With the Bayer Cross as a trademark.

Bayer AG
- founder -
Friedrich Weskott
Friedrich Weskott is a co-founder of today's Bayer Group and pioneer of the tar colors together with Friedrich Bayer.
The friendship with Friedrich Bayer leads to the foundation of the company in 1863, which under the name "Friedr. Bayer et Comp." is entered in the commercial register.
In the rapidly growing "Compagnie" - as early as 1867, 50 employees - Weskott takes over the technical management, while Bayer has the commercial leadership.
Even before the company was founded, both cooperation partners are involved in the production and testing of the new synthetic dyes. Anilin and a little later Fuchsin should ultimately exceed the traditional natural dyes, such as those made on the Weskott's site, to exceed radiance and purity and soon completely replace them from the market. The history of the Bayer Group's economic success begins with these.
