Dmitri Jewgenjewitsch Rybolowlew - Uralkali
In 1992, Soyuzkali was privatized and the Silvinit division was spun off as the English OJSC Silvinit. Privatization formed the basis of Dmitri Yevgenyevich Rybolovlev's financial rise from 1991 onwards.
Immediately after the end of communism, Rybolovlev set up the fertilizer manufacturer Uralkali. However, his financial rise was interrupted in 1996 when Rybolovlev, known as the "Kali King" (Potash King), was imprisoned for almost a year for allegedly ordering the murder of a rival until he was ultimately acquitted due to lack of evidence after a witness recanted his testimony. Rybolovlev then left Russia and has since lived alternately in New York City, Monaco and Cologny on Lake Geneva.

He sold his stake in Uralkali in 2010 for over $5 billion to Suleiman Kerimov, Alexander Nesis and Filaret Galchev.
